HepHIV 2023 Madrid Conference

The biennial HepHIV Сonference took place 13-15 November 2023 in Madrid, Spain. The main theme of the HepHIV-2023 focused on progress and implementation of integrated testing, new technologies and ensuring equity in the delivery of HIV, viral hepatitis and STI services.

The main aim of the conference was to bring together stakeholders from all levels of the health system, from community organisations to health care providers and policy makers to present and discuss new approaches for testing and linkage to care for HIV, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and tuberculosis (TB), highlighting programmatic/implementation issues and adaptation of testing services in response to emerging public health issues. Focus also was on the impact of stigma as well as mobile populations and migrants.

At the poster session of the event, we presented the results of a study conducted by the Ukrainian Institute on Public Health Policy in 2021 with the aim of evaluating feasibility and effectiveness of a simplified HCV care and treatment model integrated into OAT programs in Ukraine. The availability of free HCV treatment at the OAT site has been shown by our researchers to significantly increase access to this life-saving treatment and improve the attractiveness of the OAT programs.
