Harm Reduction 2019

Kostyantyn Dumchev of UIPHP presented the results of the retrospective clinical study of people living with HIV in Ukraine at the 26th Harm Reduction International Conference in Porto.

The 26th Harm Reduction International Conference was held in Porto, Portugal from 28 April to 1 May 2019.

Held once every two years in a different country around the world, the Harm Reduction International Conference is the only global meeting for knowledge-sharing, networking, and discussion of best practices in the field of harm reduction.

At the third day of Harm Reduction 2019, Scientific Director of the Ukrainian Institute on Public Health Policy Kostyantyn Dumchev presented the results of the retrospective clinical study of people living with HIV in Ukraine. The results convincingly confirm that people who use drugs achieve viral suppression at the same rate as other patients who started ART. However, they continue to face significant delays in initiating ART, urging more active implementation of linkage to care interventions.
