This April, a team of researchers implementing the HPTN 074 protocol in Ukraine visited the partner project site in Thai Nguyen province (Vietnam).
Vietnamese colleagues have done everything to make the meeting interesting and useful. The Ukrainian team has learned a lot about program context and operation at the clinical research site in Thai Nguyen, shared best strategies for participant recruitment and retention and then was invited to the head office in Hanoi.
Both countries have similar HIV epidemics driven by injecting drug use, and continued experience exchange between Ukraine and Vietnam will be useful for improving research capacity and optimizing the HIV response.
